Abstract

Background: Dynamic balance is the ability to maintain balance while moving or changing position. Many people experience kinematic deviations from normal walking patterns after a stroke. In post-stroke patients, there are problems with balance and walking patterns due to muscle weakness, and impaired motor and sensory control which can result in balance disorders and kinematic deviations from normal walking patterns. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of Swiss Ball Exercise on dynamic balance and gait patterns in post-stroke patients. Methods: This study used pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest research design. Conducted for 4 weeks with a frequency of 3 times a week. The research subjects consisted of 10 people with the measurement of balance Timed up and go test and walking pattern Wisconsin gait scale. Results: The Wilcoxon Test obtained a p-value of 0.005 on dynamic balance, while the Paired Sample T- Test test obtained a p-value of 0.002 on walking patterns. Conclusion: Swiss Ball Exercise intervention has a significant effect on dynamic balance and gait patterns in post-stroke patients.
