Abstract

Background:Labor is strongly influenced by a mother’s experience during pregnancy, where maternal health plays a crucial role in determining the quality and smoothness of delivery. During pregnancy, many women experience various problems, one of which is reduced physical fitness. Data indicate that 89.9% of pregnant women have low fitness levels, and 71% experience poor labor quality. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical fitness in third-trimester pregnant women and the quality of childbirth. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design using the childbirth quality questionnaire developed by Jannah (2024). The questionnaire was administered to each respondent and included demographic data and questions related to the delivery process they underwent. A total of 80 respondents were selected using purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test and calculation of the Odds Ratio. Results:The Chi-Square analysis revealed a significant relationship between physical fitness in third-trimester pregnant women and childbirth quality, with a p-value of 0.028 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant association between the two variables. Based on the Odds Ratio calculation, pregnant women with poor physical fitness had a 2.756 times higher risk of experiencing negative labor outcomes compared to those with good fitness levels. Conclusion: Pregnant women are strongly recommended to maintain and improve their physical fitness throughout pregnancy to support better childbirth outcomes.
